Featurecraft’s decorative timber battens are a time-honoured way to beautify architectural environments. Timber battens – also referred to as wooden battens – are hard-wearing, impact-resistant components that can be pieced together to create complex timber batten ceiling systems, timber batten feature walls, and timber batten exterior soffits. These versatile components make it easy to divide environments into zones, draw attention to different areas to create dynamic visual flow, and generally elevate the aesthetics of any building.
When it comes to using a timber batten system, the options are limited only by imagination. Our interior timber battens are easy to install, enabling straight and curved timber batten feature walls, or supporting timber batten ceiling systems upon suspended ceilings. Our wooden battens are all finished in our Hawke’s Bay factory, and our expert craftspeople take a hands-on approach to each piece, giving our decorative timber battens a truly personal touch. Interior timber battens can be specially treated to improve their fire safety rating, making them a safer choice for timber ceiling battens per NZ standards.

Yes. Our solid timber battens are designed for feature walls and ceilings, with solutions for straight and curved installations, as well as suspended ceilings. Solid timber battens can achieve a Group 1-S (NZ) rating with factory-applied intumescent coating, or a Group 3 (NZ) rating otherwise. Get in touch with us early in your design phase so we can fine-tune profiles, finishes, and documentation for your project.
Yes. We can integrate acoustic polyester (PET) backing behind timber battens (via our ZPF trim) to deliver both absorption and visual depth. PET backing is available in 12mm (0.40 NRC) or 25mm (0.60 NRC), and it comes in a wide colour range. You can also incorporate an acoustic blanket to achieve a 0.95 NRC performance. We offer dozens of profile options and sizes which you can view in our Batten Profile library. Our standard profiles include classic options like squares, rectangles, and bullnoses, as well as stylised options like tapers, flutes, and triangles. We also machine custom profiles on request and create feature lining layouts for incorporate services and enhance your aesthetics.
Our timber battens are fixed with a simple clip-on system and can be direct fixed to walls, ceilings, curved spaces, and suspended (Rondo) ceilings.
