When it comes to composition, we offer a choice between Solid Timber Batten screens, Fire Rated MDF Battens with a timber, HPL or melamine veneer, or Aluminium Battens.
Solid Timber Battens have traditionally been highly popular for creating room divider screens in NZ. Architectural timber screens are considered a classic design element for space-making as they evoke the splendour of natural forests, while creating graceful patterns that bestow a sense of order upon environments.

Fire Rated MDF Battens are a smarter option for environments where a higher degree of fire safety is necessary. Wall dividers and partition walls in NZ must always be compliant with the Building Code, so Featurecraft recommends using our fire-retardant options for environments with stringent requirements. MDF battens can be customised with timber veneers, emulating the look of a timber batten screen. Alternatively, MDF can be pressed with Featurecraft’s HPL or melamine finishes. These finishes have been hand-picked to embody the natural beauty of NZ, offering room divider screens and dividing walls that truly reflect the unique context of this country.
Finally, our aluminium partition walls and screens are an extremely durable and non-corrosive choice for high-impact environments, exterior settings, or for any space that requires a long-lasting feature. These sturdy battens can be powder coated to achieve a sophisticated finish, an enhancement that also provides protection against UV exposure. Featurecraft’s aluminium partition walls are the right option for any project where functionality and aesthetics are equally important.
Featurecraft’s NZ architectural timber screens and NZ wall dividers are sustainably sourced, and many of our products hold full FSC® and PEFC™ certification. We are committed to providing high-quality products that have a net positive impact on our clients, our communities, and our environment.

1) Why use wall dividers or screens instead of solid walls?
Wall dividers and screens help define zones without closing spaces in. They allow light to pass through, maintain sight lines, and keep rooms feeling open while still adding privacy or separation.
2) What materials are Featurecraft wall dividers available in?
Our wall dividers are available in three material options to suit different design needs. Solid timber battens give a warm, traditional feel. Fire rated veneer battens offer the look of real wood with added fire compliance and durability. Aluminium battens provide a strong, low-maintenance option suitable for high-impact or moisture-prone areas. Each material delivers its own aesthetic and performance qualities, giving you flexibility across various project types.
3) How are wall divider screens installed securely?
Wall dividers are fixed floor to ceiling using robust systems designed for stability and clean visuals. Depending on the look you want, we use discreet U-brackets, continuous U-channels, or flat base and top plates. These systems keep the screen rigid and prevent movement, even in high-traffic areas. Most of the hardware remains hidden, preserving the divider’s refined, architectural appearance while ensuring it safely withstands everyday use.
4) Can wall dividers and screens help with acoustics?
Yes. Wall dividers can be upgraded with acoustic panels to reduce echo and sound transfer between zones. This transforms the divider into a sound absorber, making it ideal for open-plan workplaces, hospitality venues, or residential spaces where you want both visual enhancement and noise control.
5) Are Featurecraft’s wall dividers compliant with the fire code?
They can be. For projects requiring fire safety, our fire rated veneer battens provide a Group 1S solution that meets New Zealand Building Code requirements, and our aluminium battens are completely non-combustible. These battens are optimal for commercial or public areas with strict fire rules.
6) Can I customise the design or spacing of a Featurecraft wall divider?
Absolutely. Every wall divider is made to order, allowing full control over height, width, batten spacing, and finishes. You can choose narrow or wide gaps depending on how open or private you want the divider to feel. We offer a wide range of stains, veneers, and powder-coated colours, including custom options. Whether you want a refined Asian dividing screen effect or a rustic Nordic pillar look, the design is tailored to your space.
