Featurecraft’s FR Plywood Panel is an impact resistant, acoustic and fire-safe / fire retardant decorative wall and ceiling lining system.
Featurecraft specialises in being a leading supplier of fire rated plywood NZ wide, offering solutions that combine safety, aesthetics, and durability. Our popular fire rated birch plywood is ideal for projects requiring strict fire safety standards, such as commercial spaces and public buildings. Fire rated plywood is designed to meet Group 1S fire ratings in New Zealand and Group 2 ratings in Australia, with no need for intumescent coatings. Whether for wall cladding or ceiling systems, our panels provide reliable performance while supporting creative design ideas.
Our 12mm fire rated plywood is a popular choice for both interior and exterior applications. It is suitable for direct fixings and suspended ceiling systems, providing impact resistance and long-lasting strength. The panels are created locally in NZ, with options for natural sealing or custom stains and washes to match your project’s aesthetic. With FSC® and PEFC™ certification available, our products also align with sustainable building practices, contributing to Greenstar and Homestar initiatives.
At Featurecraft, we understand that architectural innovation often requires tailored solutions. Our fire rated plywood panels can be fabricated to specific sizes and shapes, ensuring seamless integration into your design. With a lightweight profile—ranging from 6mm to 18mm thickness—and the ability to be curved, these panels offer versatile options for creative spaces. The addition of perforated backing options in felt enhances acoustic performance, achieving up to 0.95 NRC, making them suitable for environments where sound control is important.
Choosing fire rated plywood in New Zealand and Australia means prioritising safety without sacrificing style. Our panels are impact-resistant, easy to install, and come with a 10-year warranty for peace of mind. Whether you're seeking fire rated timber cladding or a custom design-led solution, Featurecraft’s fire rated plywood panels deliver both safety and visual appeal. We are passionate about pushing boundaries and supporting architects and designers in creating innovative, safe spaces.

FR Plywood Panels can be screw-fixed onto timber-framed or steel-framed walls. Most walls have battens or studs at 600 centers and we recommend fixing around the top and bottom edges at 250 centers and the side edges & through the middle of the sheet at 440mm centers – see typical screw fix pattern for 2400 x 1200 sheets. Download PDF here
Screw fix can be used when there is 3-4mm gap between the sheets. Recommended screws are 6 or 8 gauge stainless steel countersunk wood screws 30mm long. Screw can be stainless steel or powder-coated to match the face of the panel if required.
Screw fix is recommended for acoustic panels as these have the felt backing which limits the use of construction adhesive.
Refer to screw fix installation for best practices.
Suspended ceiling installation includes Rondo suspended ceiling systems.
