Featurecraft’s Fire Rated Veneer Battens – also known in the industry as FR Veneer Battens or Fire Rated MDF Battens – are stylish and practical enhancements for interior spaces. They are designed to resemble solid timber, but they harness the strength and resilience of MDF to create complex decorative systems. With a simple installation method and powerful flexibility in terms of design and spacing, our Fire Rated Veneer Battens can be incorporated effortlessly into any architectural environment, transforming uniform walls and ceilings into stunning feature pieces.
Featurecraft’s Fire Rated MDF Battens are specially treated to improve their fire-retardant properties, making them exceptionally well suited for interior applications without any requirement for intumescent coating. As well as being designed for maximal user safety, Fire Rated MDF Battens are also compatible with acoustic backing panels for better sound quality. Furthermore, as part of Featurecraft’s ongoing commitment to environmental wellbeing, our Fire Rated MDF Battens are sustainably sourced with full FSC® and PEFC™ certifications.

The true versatility of this product comes from the veneer that is pressed onto the batten. We can also apply timber stains to Fire Rated Timber Veneer Battens that have been finished with a natural veneer. Our wide variety of veneer and stain options enables a high degree of creative control, ensuring that architects and designers can fine-tune the visual composition of their environment.
To complement the Fire Rated Timber Veneer Batten range, Featurecraft also offers high pressure laminate (HPL) and melamine finishes. Yes, Fire Rated Veneer Battens can be integrated with acoustic backing panels and blankets to reduce unwanted noise in your environment. A 12 mm acoustic backing can deliver around 0.40 NRC, increasing to about 0.60 with a 25 mm backing. For the highest level of sound control, you can opt for an acoustic blanket and achieve up to ~0.95 NRC.
Installation is quick and tidy. Each batten connects to an aluminium rail system using matching male and female components. The rails are fixed to your wall or ceiling structure, and then the battens simply clip into place in sequence. This gives consistent spacing, a secure hold and a clean, screw free finish on walls and ceilings, or even gentle curves using flexible tracks.
Yes. All components of our Fire Rated Veneer Battens are sourced from responsibly managed forests, and our products can be FSC® and PEFC certified. The engineered core makes efficient use of timber fibre, reducing waste when compared with solid wood. All staining and clear finishing is carried out in-house using carefully selected products.
